BATTLE OF CHERITON SITE 0.0 miles - The Battle of Cheriton took place to the east of Winchester on 29th March 1644, at the height of the Civil War. Here, Royalists fought Parliamentarians for effective control of central southern England. In 2005, a walking trail around the battlefield was established, starting and ending at The Hinton Arms so you can walk the walk today, and pop in to warm up afterwards!

HINTON AMPNER HOUSE 0.5 miles - A historic country manor, lovingly rebuilt after a catastrophic fire in 1960, offering fabulous views of the South Downs.

MID HANTS RAILWAY, ALRESFORD - ALTON 3.6 miles - Step back into the Age of Steam and let the train take the strain as you sit back, relax, and watch mile after mile of beautiful Hampshire countryside pass you by.

MARWELL ZOO 7.7 miles - Offering a chance to get close to the wonders of the natural world – and play a big part in helping to save them. The 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species, from ring-tailed coatis to majestic giraffes, endangered tigers to frilled lizards, curious meerkats and pygmy hippos.
